About us

Created on October 1, 1980, the Régie du logement is now known as the Tribunal administratif du logement.

This specialized administrative tribunal holds exclusive jurisdiction in matters of rental housing to hear all applications pertaining to leases.

Its mission is outlined in the Act respecting the Administrative Housing Tribunal, and a number of its operating mechanisms are enacted by regulations made under that Act.

In order to promote more harmonious relations between lessors and lessees, and to ensure that all parties meet the obligations arising from the lease, the legislator gave the Tribunal a double mandate: to provide the public with adequate information and effective recourse when a party fails to meet its obligations.
