September 17, 2020 – The 2019-2020 annual management report of the Régie du logement was tabled in the National Assembly on September 17, 2020.
The results presented today show that, in 2019-2020, the Régie du logement has greatly improved its wait time to obtain a first hearing.
In 2019-2020, the average wait time for all categories of cases went down from 4.5 to 3.6 months, that is, a reduction of 20%.
For priority and general civil cases, wait times went down from 11.4 to 9.1 months and from 14.1 to 10.6 months respectively, that is, reductions of 20% and 25%. Improvements are even clearer with regard to wait times for the fixing of rent, which went down from 10.5 to 5.6 months.
The President, Mtre. Patrick Simard, stated [TRANSLATION] “I am very proud to sign this annual report, given that 2019-2020 was marked by significant achievements. Of course, those results were made possible by the staff increase announced in the spring of 2019, as well as by many improvements made to the process for inscription on the roll”.
The 2019-2020 annual management report is the last such report to be prepared by the Régie du logement. The 2020-2021 edition will be prepared by the Tribunal administratif du logement, which became the official name of the Régie on August 31, 2020.
